Everyone
is a maker

This was supposed to be an electronics project.

Something went wrong with a courier, and a component wasn't delivered

Instead, here's an origami spiral

Maker Challenge

For this challenge, I repurposed an old candle jar into a condiment carrier!

Decorated with washi tape to contain any potential breakages, the jar now carries salt, pepper, ketchup, vinegar, sugar and  artificial sweetener!

An Túr Gloine was a pioneering Irish stained glass studio. It was founded in 1903 by portrait painter Sarah Purser, with the help of Irish cultural activist Edward Martyn and English stained glass artist A.E. Child.

The Irish name An Túr Gloine (The Tower of Glass) was inspired by ancient Irish mythology from the eleventh-century Book of Invasions. The studio created art imbued with the contemporary spirit of romantic nationalism and Irish cultural revivalism, while also adopting the methods of the British Arts and Crafts movement, championed by John Ruskin, William Morris and Christopher Whall.

Fieldtrip

The National Gallery of Ireland is located in Dublin city centre, next to the offices of the Irish Government. Entry is free to all, so I often walk through, and take in a new exhibition.

I enjoyed this temporary exhibit as it showcases the use of glass as an artistic medium. Details from Jugs, and é Finito embrace the brushstrokes of the artists as they add paint to the glass pieces.

St. Nicholas and Rhoda Opens the Door to St. Peter shows details in the faces and hands of the subjects that show the artists mastery of their craft.

I’ve always loved stained glass as it creates vibrant colours, allows light into the rooms, while also providing privacy. This exhibit combines both traditional religious imagery and modern secular design.
